Barre is a ballet-inspired fitness class that combines strength, balance, coordination, and endurance into a fun and challenging full-body workout.

At MOVE., our Barre classes are designed to get you moving, elevate your heart rate, challenge your coordination, and leave you feeling stronger, more energised, and more connected to your body.

Led by Katy, an experienced Reformer Pilates and Barre instructor with a lifelong passion for ballet and dance, these classes blend movement, music, and expert coaching to create an enjoyable and effective workout for all abilities.

What is Barre?

Barre takes inspiration from ballet training, Pilates, and functional movement to create a unique style of exercise that develops strength, control, balance, and endurance.

Using a combination of mat-based exercises and movements performed at the barre, classes challenge the whole body while remaining accessible to a wide range of abilities.

Expect muscles to work hard, your heart rate to rise, and your concentration to be tested along the way.

No dance experience is required.

What To Expect

Each class follows a structured format designed to challenge the whole body:

Warm Up

We begin by getting the body moving and preparing the muscles and joints for the session ahead.

Core Work

Mat-based exercises focus on building strength and control through the trunk and abdominal muscles.

Barre Work

Using the barre for support, we work through a series of exercises designed to challenge the legs, glutes, balance, and muscular endurance.

Stretch and Cool Down

The class finishes with mobility work and stretching to help you recover and leave feeling refreshed.

Suitable for Everyone

Whether you’re completely new to exercise, an experienced gym-goer, a Reformer Pilates member, or simply looking for something different, Barre can be adapted to suit your needs.

Classes are taught in layers, allowing you to tailor the workout to how your body is feeling on the day.

You’ll always have options to:

  • Progress movements if you want more challenge
  • Modify exercises if needed
  • Work at your own pace
  • Take breaks whenever required
  • Our goal is not perfection.

Meet Your Instructor

Katy

Katy combines a lifelong passion for ballet and dance with extensive experience teaching movement.

Alongside her work as a Reformer Pilates and Barre instructor, she has a background in dance teaching and choreography, bringing energy, creativity, and attention to detail into every class.

Her supportive coaching style helps participants feel comfortable regardless of experience, while her love of movement makes every session engaging and enjoyable.
