Diagnostic MSK Ultrasound
Clarity. Precision. Better Decisions.
At MOVE., we use diagnostic musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound to support accurate diagnosis and guide your rehabilitation.
It allows us to visualise tendons, muscles, ligaments and joints in real time β helping us confirm findings, assess tissue health and refine your treatment plan.
This is not a standalone scan service.
It is a clinical tool used within your assessment and care at MOVE.
What Is MSK Ultrasound?
MSK ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive way to assess soft tissue and joint structures.
We use it to examine:
- Tendons
- Ligaments
- Muscles
- Bursae
- Joints
- Selected superficial nerve structures
Unlike static imaging, ultrasound allows dynamic assessment. We can scan while you move β often providing more functional, clinically relevant information.
Why We Use It
Ultrasound enhances clinical decision-making.
It may help us:
- Confirm or refine a working diagnosis
- Assess tendon pathology or partial tears
- Evaluate ligament injury
- Monitor healing progress
- Improve your understanding of the problem
- Plan rehabilitation with greater precision
Findings are always interpreted alongside your history and physical examination. Imaging supports clinical reasoning β it does not replace it.
Scope of Our Service
Our ultrasound service is strictly for musculoskeletal conditions only.
We do not assess:
- Lumps or unexplained masses
- Suspected cancer or systemic disease
- Vascular conditions (including DVT)
- Pregnancy-related concerns
- Abdominal or organ pathology
- We do not provide ultrasound-guided injections
If we suspect pathology outside MSK scope, you will be referred appropriately via your GP or relevant medical service.
Who Is It For?
- All MSK ultrasound scans are performed by our Clinical Director, Charles Bertoia.
- These are clinician-performed MSK scans integrated directly into your management plan.
- They are not hospital radiology investigations and are not conducted by a diagnostic sonographer.
What to Expect
- Scans are typically performed within your assessment or follow-up appointment
- 10β20 minutes depending on the region
- Real-time explanation of findings
- Immediate integration into your treatment plan
- Ultrasound is painless and does not involve radiation
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ultrasound safe?
Yes. MSK ultrasound is safe, painless and does not use radiation.
Do I need a referral?
No. However, you must be an existing patient or book a new patient assessment before scanning.
Will this replace an MRI?
Not necessarily. Ultrasound is excellent for assessing many soft tissue injuries, particularly tendons and superficial structures. If more advanced imaging is required, we will refer appropriately.
Can you check for DVT or other medical conditions?
No. Our scans are strictly for musculoskeletal assessment only. We do not assess vascular, systemic or non-MSK pathology.
Do you perform guided injections?
No. We do not provide ultrasound-guided injections.
Book an Assessment
If you feel imaging may help clarify your injury, book a new patient assessment or discuss it during your current care plan.
At MOVE., ultrasound is not about adding scans.
Itβs about improving decisions β and helping you move forward with confidence.
