New patient journey
Whether you book online or contact us via phone or email, our friendly reception team will help you schedule your first appointment. Once booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email along with your new patient paperwork — a detailed questionnaire designed to help us understand your condition, how it affects you, and your goals for care.
Whether you’re seeing one of our chiropractors or the sports therapy team, your first visit will be with one of our diagnosing clinicians for a comprehensive 45-minute appointment. During this session, we’ll review your medical history and questionnaire, carry out a thorough physical examination, and discuss our findings with you in a clear, collaborative way.
What to expect after your assessment
Please note: this process applies only to patients accessing our clinical services (Chiropractic or Sports Therapy). If you’re joining us for training-based services such as Reformer Pilates, Martial Arts, or Strength & Conditioning, you can book directly without a new patient appointment.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral?
No, our services are considered primary healthcare and you never need a referral to see us. However, if someone has referred you to us let us know so we can thank them!
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment in several ways. You can book using our online booking system which is the most convenient way to book. This also includes our app, which gives you full control over your appointments. You can also book appointments by calling our practice (01743 651544) or by emailing us (hello@moveshrewsbury.co.uk)
Do you offer same-day or urgent appointments?
We do our best to offer these appointments to patients in need. We can regularly accommodate existing patients same day. New patients can often be seen same day or at latest the next day. With these patients we regularly will call them to discuss to ensure chiropractic care is appropriate for them given the level of pain they are often experiencing. We try to support them on going until we can see them or get them seen by the most appropriate person.
What should I wear at my first appointment?
Loose fitting and comfortable clothing is the best. This can be active wear or whatever you are comfortable in. We generally ask people to wear clothes that allow us to visualise areas of pain if required. Typically mini-skirts and skinny jeans are not the best options but otherwise we can work with most clothing!
Do you accept insurance?
Yes we accept most major insurance providers. We currently do not work with BUPA, AXA, or Vitality on most policies.
Does it hurt?
Typically chiropractic care are sports therapy and relatively gentle and shouldn’t hurt too much. However we are often working on tense, tight, or injured tissues which means you should expect a little discomfort whilst we manipulate these structures. We do our best to limit treatment related symptoms.
How many treatments will I need?
Everyone is different; different conditions, different healing times, different goals. This means this question is almost impossible to answer. Our general rule of thumb is initially we advise 4-8 treatments however this advice is tailored for each individual.
